Overview

Textastic is designed to keep your information private. It does this by collecting as little information and using as few third party services as possible.

We do not transfer or disclose your information to third parties for purposes other than the ones provided.

We can share your data on the following grounds: consent, compliance with the law, and performance of a contract with you.

Security procedures are in place to protect the confidentiality of your data.

Website

The website currently uses no third-party analytics. The web server logs details about each visitor, such as date and time, the first two decimal numbers of the IP address (for example IP 11.22.33.44 is stored as 11.22.0.0), browser version, and which pages were accessed. Those logs are kept for 30 days and then deleted. This information is used to see which other websites currently bring visitors to our website. The website is HTTPS-only for your privacy and security.

The feedback forum at feedback.textasticapp.com is hosted by UserEcho, LLC and has its own privacy policy.

iPad, iPhone, and Mac App

The app uses Microsoft App Center (previously HockeyApp) for crash reporting. The user is always asked before crash reports are sent. Crash reports are used to improve the stability and reliability of the app.

App Center crash reporting was removed in Textastic 10.2 for iOS/iPadOS because App Center is scheduled for retirement on March 31, 2025. It will be removed from the Mac app in a future update.

iPad and iPhone App

Textastic for iPadOS and iOS includes clients for SFTP, FTP, FTPS, FTPES, WebDAV, Dropbox, and Google Drive. You can use these clients to download and upload files and whole folder trees.

Logins and credentials you enter in the app are securely stored in the operating system's keychain on your device only. They are only used when the user requests to log in to servers (for example (S)FTP, Dropbox, Google Drive, WebDAV, or SSH), but never sent to anyone else. (Note: if you enable the "Debug Log" functionality for unencrypted FTP connections, the password may be logged in the log file.)

Files are stored locally on your device unless you manually choose to share them with third-party services like Dropbox, Google Drive, iCloud Drive, etc. for example by using the share sheet, uploading them or moving them into a cloud storage location. If you store files in the "iCloud" location in Textastic, they are automatically synced using iCloud Drive.

The communication between the app on your device and your cloud storage provider is always performed directly without involving any of our servers.

Connections to Dropbox and Google Drive accounts and to SFTP, SSH, FTPS and FTPES servers are encrypted to protect your information. Please note that connections using the unencrypted FTP protocol are not encrypted and should only be used in trusted, internal networks.

Files stored in the app, in linked cloud storage providers (Dropbox and Google Drive) or on remote servers (SFTP, SSH, FTPS, FTPES, FTP, WebDAV) are not shared with us.

You can find more information about the supported cloud storage providers at:

Mac App

The macOS app does not currently ask for logins or credentials.
